Our 1st weekend: a safari at Samburu park

The team spent his first weekend in Kenya on a beautiful safari at Samburu park.

We were staying in a tented camp (with a rather basic accomodation), but the visits in the park at sunrising and sunset were really astonishing. We were lucky and able to see nearly all the animals, at least 4 out of the 'big five' (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo) and the fifth (rhino) simply is not present at Samburu.

Meeting with the 'big boss' of Postal Office in Karatina, near Nyeri. This visit is part of the information collecting work we are doing for our project. Even if Karatina Post Office has only 12 employees, it servers about 1 million people and its Postmaster Mr. Gakuba is really a 'big boss'.......

Just started our second working day here in Nyeri. This morning some student from Kimathi University were visiting us. They are very excited about the Community Day we will have with them on March 3.

I will teach them how to setup an interactive whiteboard using a PC a projector and a Wii remote.

Afternoon was spent with Bill in Nyeri trying to interview people on the street about Postal Corporation of Kenya services for our project.

Our team decided to enter the Post Office in Nyeri and trying to speak with the boss.

Mr Mulundi is the Head Postmaster and was willing to talk to us and share much information. It has been very interesting and also he showed us the Post Office 'behind the scenes'.

By the way, our team has been named 'Twiga', and the twiga is showed here below.....

Nyeri is the the administrative headquarters of the country's Central Province and is the place where our team will live for a month.

The day has been spent visiting IBM East Africa first and then our customers: Postal Corporation of Kenya, Kenya ICT Board and Directorate of e-Government  Cabinet Office, Office of the President.
